Allen & Baughman is a successful, high volume, general practice firm located in Zanesville, Ohio. The firm focuses on banking, real estate, estate planning, administration of estates, representation of small businesses, municipal law (including prosecution of misdemeanor offenses), landlord/tenant, adoption and family law. The firm also operates a real estate title agency, and employees have the opportunity to become skilled in supporting and processing real estate transactions and closings. Key Responsibilities
As a Title Officer, you will be integral to the processing and closing stages of real estate transactions. Reporting to the closing manager, your role involves ensuring compliance with RESPA regulations while utilizing your expertise in Title Agency Best Practices and efficient, successful closing processes. Your strong communication and organizational skills will facilitate effective collaboration with attorneys, real estate agents, loan officers, and clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SoftPro Select along with your certified notary public status will enhance your ability to manage orders, contracts, and escrow processes efficiently. All employees must adhere to strict confidentiality regarding business-related information. Employees are expected to have good judgment and take the initiative in assisting others to create a positive work environment.
Normal business hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, in person, Monday through Friday. Employees must be able/willing to commute to the physical office in Zanesville, Ohio for business hours.
Expected Tasks and Duties:
- Prepare escrow transactions for closing
- Prepare legal documents such as deeds, mortgages and real estate descriptions
- Coordinate signing appointments
- Ensure escrow transactions are sufficiently funded and balanced
- Ensure all documents are complete and signed
- Prepare filing documents for recording
- Explain provisions and procedures with clients
- Comply with regulatory requirements and enforce adherence to requirements
- Assist with preparation and filing of 1099 tax forms yearly
- Engage in other activities and special projects as may be assigned
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes
- High School Diploma/GED
- Background check
- Notary Public (or ability to obtain licensure within 30 days of employment)
- Microsoft Office 365 proficiency (Outlook, Word)
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to proficiently type, proofread, and draft documents
- Strong time management skills (tasks, scheduling, appointment management)
- Organizational skills to maintain document management systems
- Highly capable of learning new technologies and software systems
- Team-oriented, hardworking, and able to prioritize tasks efficiently
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of and prior work experience in real property, real estate title agency, real estate mortgage and purchase closings (strong preference)
- Microsoft Office 365 proficiency (Excel, Teams)
- SoftPro proficiency
Compensation and Benefits
- Minimum pay: $34,000.00 (flexible based on prior work experience)
